Journal 3

This is the third journal that I have done in the online class with SueB. This journal is the smallest journal we have done. It is put together a little differently then the first two. Sue had us make a separate back and front and it is held together with several ribbons.

There are several different kinds of paper in the journal. The first page I did some watercoloring and then stamped and embossed some seashells on the paper. Besides watercolor paper I have added some writing paper, drawing paper and card stock. I will be adding some pockets to put loose items in.

We are in Idaho this week having a little vacation time with by husbands brother. We are staying at Lake Coeur d' Alene, at a wonderful time share and we are right on the water. Although it is April there is still some snow around and it is predicted to snow some more.

Journal 2

This is the second journal I made in the online class I am taking from SueB. This is a sketchbook that the pages can be removed and replaced with other pages. The pages inside are 7 1/2" by 11" . Besides having drawing paper in the journal I have added other fun papers.
The inside of the journal has pockets of different sizes to store pencils, pens and other supplies. On to journal 3.

Silk Hankie Bowl

This bowl is made with a silk hankie. Hankies are silk cocoons that are soaked in water and then stretched on a wood frame. The hankies I purchased were white and I painted a few of them. I then added some threads and yarn. A stiffener was painted on and the hankie was placed over a bowl to dry. This is another technique that I learned from a class I am taking from SueB at Joggles.

Paper towel Vase

I am still working on projects from the Joggles class that I took from SueB. This is a "collaged hand painted paper towel vase". Sue had us paint paper towels and then use different ink sprays on them. Once everything was dried we tore the towels and fused the pieces to muslin. After everything was the way we liked it, shapes were cut out of our paper fabric and sewn together. I still have a few more items from the class to complete.

Concertina Book

Another project that Sue had us make in the Joggles class is this "Concertina Book". The covers of the book are painted mulberry bark that has been stitched on to black felted wool. Paper was then folded and slid into the inside cover of the book. I stitched some cords together, added some beads and then attached the cord to the book.

"Sewer's Journal"

I am taking another classes from Joggles. The name of the class is "Mixed Media Surfaces for the Textile Artist". It is being taught by Sue Bleiweiss. Sue had us make a textile surface that used old sewing patterns. After bonding several layers together we added some color and sew it to a base fabric. We then took our fabric and made a cover to a journal with it. This is a six week class and I think Sue is going to keep us very busy.

Watching

My cats spend their days watching the birds, while the birds are watching for fish in the river. This is a art quilt that I did for my online class that I am taking from Joggles. The fish are not as dark on the quilt as they look on the scan picture.

I do love pumpkins!

This is a felt quilt that I did for the Joggles class that I am taking. Up until this afternoon I didn't care for the way it was coming together. When I put the dark border on, I finally liked it.

Landscape quilt

Last week I started an online class that is being offered by Joggles. The class is "Art Quilt Explorations" and is taught be Jane LaFazio. This is our first quilt. It is fun to see all the different landscapes that people are doing.
