Pine Needle Basket

This is a basket I made for my permanent marking pens. I was not able to find a container the size I wanted so I decided to just make one. It is made from pine needles that are about 15" long. I stitched it together with sinew which is similar to raffia but much stronger and a lot easier to use. The basket is about 6" in diameter and 4" tall.

where did you buy/find the sinew? I like the simple design, although I am sure making it was not simple.

Beautiful basket! I sometimes make things I need too, but not usually this time consuming. All my markers would run dry by the time I was done! (Or I would have lost them) Your work is inspirational. Thanks for sharing!

Morning dove, I buy sinew from a lady in South Carolina. I also buy my pine needles there, we have a lot of pine trees in the NW but with short needles.

How in the world did you come up with this? Can you provide more details - i'd love to make one. I live in North Carolina (and am surrounded by hundreds of long needle pines). This little basket is adorable.
