Dyeing fabric has been one of those things on my to try list. I have decided to start small and begin with Zip Lock bags . Sue Bleiweiss has a tutorial link on her blog with the instructions. It didn't come out quite the way I thought is would, but it was a learning experience. I used Procion dyes. With some of the leftover dye I dyed some scrim, on the right side. I purchased a book "Color by Accident" by Ann Johnston, which looks to have a lot of information about dyeing.

Looks great, Jacq. This is something on my To Do list. It would be great to have gradations of various colors. That would make a nice fiber artists' pallete. What do you think?
I love this colour.

I hear alot about scrim but didn't know what it looked like. Is it close to the same thing as cheescloth? Once our guild dyed fabric with baggies. I still have the dyed fabric. Can't seem to part with it.
I think your fabric turned out terrific!
The Vikki Pignatelli books inspired me to dye batic fabric to. I have done it for a month and I have made a small place for it in our cellar. It is wonderfull to create the coulars of the fabric that you want and to use it in different sewing projects.
Good work.
