HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Over the years I have enjoyed doing a lot of different stitching. I thought I would share some different pieces I have done recently.

The top part of the piece above is crossed stitched and the bottom part is a small band sampler that has pulled threads and various stitches.

Every year Prairie Schooler publishes a new Santa. I have been able to collect all of them and enjoy stitching them and putting different ones together.

Christmas Socks

These socks are a Christmas gift from my sister Judie. Awhile back she took all my foot measuements and promised me a pair of socks. They are a great fit, my favorite color and feel wonderful to wear. In a previous post I wrote that my sister loves to quilt and applique, she has been my quilting guru for a long time. But I think her passion is knitting socks, she "always"returns to it.

"Metallic Noughts and Crosses"

This postcard came from Diane in Australia. She and I are participating in a metallic postcard trade. The background is paper fabric. She has done some stitching on the card with red metallic thread. She then finished it up with metallic crosses and washers. Diane and I have also traded hand made beads, she always does some very interesting techniques and I look forward to what she sends me.

Christmas Hardanger

I needed something to put one of my Nativity sets on, so I decided to do some Hardanger embroidery. Hardanger is usually done on white fabric with white thread. I wanted something darker so I decided to go with dark green fabric and a light green thread. Breaking with tradition can be fun. The embroidery is about 7 1/2" square.

Ornament

Here is another ornament that I have made with different kinds of thread. the finished ornament is 4" high and 4" wide. I have used Ultra Suede on the back in purple to give it a nice finish.

Stitched ornament

This is one of several ornaments that I have stitched for our tree. I love all the different space dyed threads that are available. Making ornaments is a fun way to try different stitches without having to commit to a large project.

Christmas is coming....

This postcard came from Sue in California. I like that the design is simple but very effective. Sue and I have been in other trades together and she always makes nice cards.

Let it snow...

I have been busy making postcards for two different Holiday exchanges. I made some free standing lace snowflakes and have added them to a few of the postcards. Think I'll add a little more pizazz to finish this card off.

Postcard from France

This postcard came from Ann in France. It is a little difficult to see on this posting but Merry Christmas is embroidered on the green, in the center of the postcard. It is fun and inspirational to see all the different postcards people make.

"Greeting from Canada"

This card came today. It is from Flo in Canada. She appliqued the three ornaments on the background. Then she added some jewels and and the yarn tassel. Doing the extras has really made this a special card. I appreciate being able to exchange a second time with her.

"O Christmas Tree"

I belong to a couple of holiday post card exchanges and the cards are starting to arrive. This card comes from Barbara in Virginia. She has wrapped the tree with a pretty red ribbon and written the words to "O Christmas Tree" around the edge. I love this song, I always think of the German version whenever I hear it.
Today was a fun day, we took are granddaughter Molly home after she spent last night with us. We got to hear are son- in-law preach and then had a wonderful brunch that he prepared. Being a grandparent has some "great" perks.

Holiday Paper Dolls

I have been taking another class from Joggles, on making "Holiday Paper Dolls". It has been a quick and easy class and one that Mirella thought was pretty fun when she was here this past weekend. I started out by putting the dolls together with eyelets, Mirella thought brads would work better and they did. I have so much to learn from her.
