Hardanger Doily 2008

Hardanger Embroidery originated in Norway and was very popular starting around 1650. There are many people that still enjoy doing it today. My favorite way of stitching is using white thread with white fabric, which is also the most common way it is done. Last year I did a green doily for Christmas.

A beautiful piece of work!
They still make much Hardanger here. If there is a lottery for charity there is at least one Hardanger embroidery piece as a prize.

Thanks for the history lesson. I have inherited a box full of hand work from my husbands side of the family. His grandmother was from Norway.

Hello Jacq. This dollie is very beautiful. I true work of art. I bought a couple of hardanger dollies while in Germany and I bring them out in the summer. I love them too. I would not have a clue how to create one. You are very talented. Merry Christmas. Hugs Judy
